There’s quite a bit of interest in the American Chemical Society’s (ACS’s) uneasy relationship with its library subscribers right now, so I thought I’d share this with you. While perusing the Oct. 19 issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education (ok, I’m a little behind), I came across this full page advertisement taken out by the ACS. It talks about how they value their relationship and dialogue with libraries. This ad appeared after their rejection by SUNY Potsdam but before the announcement of the upcoming break with the the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CKRN) at the end of 2013. I found the full text of the open letter to libraries on the ACS publications website. Below is how it appeared in the Chronicle.
